Declaration

My unspoken goal has been to complete (and when I say complete, I mean totally finalize) a short story by the end of this week (which gives me only one more day).

I’m getting close, oh so close, but, the end of the week might be cutting it a little close.

SO the next time I post here, I’ll be done with the short story. There. I’ve said it.

Let it also be said that if I come back here, crawling on hands and knees to make a post without completing said short story, I shall do so feeling mired with guilt.

ALSO, you should really check out DropBox. It’s a free program. And, as it turns out, it’s quickly becoming the single most important, indispensable piece of non-Word Processor/non-OS software I own.

What does it do? It lets you save your files on several computers at once (so you effortlessly have several backups). In other words– it eliminates the need to carry around a jump drive.

The free version lets you synchronize up to 2GB. That’s not a lot of pics, and not a lot of mp3s, but it certainly is a lot of text files. It’s like the free version was made with us writers in mind….

Anyway, wish me luck. (& thanks!)

  2. We just picked up a Western Digital MyBook – World Edition, which is pretty much a smaller version of a home server – somewhere between that and a portable HD. It’s cool, let’s us synchronize data and access it across our entire network, as well as remotely from another.

More expensive than a Dropbox, but together they may just put the jump drive out of action! Ouch ;)

  3. @M: I can do eet! Of course it would’ve helped if I would’ve written on Saturday at all…
But here I am on Sunday, in front of the ol’ keyboard again.

@R: I took a look at the WD MyBook WE2
(2TB)– so it’s an external backup system that can be accessed from anywhere? I like that. If DropBox’s 2GB account starts getting too crowded, I’ll look at those units for a better solution.

  6. Well I think you know from the comment I added on your blog the other day that it isn’t finished yet, lol.

Dialogue is killing me in this story. It’s causing me to have genuine writer’s block literally every other exchange!! I want to figure out why that is…. What’s so tough about dialogue? Same thing happens to me with Five Rings.

But here comes a 3 day weekend so we’ll see what becomes of that.

  7. OK M, just finished earlier today. ;D

I think I’ll let it settle and give it a good read-over tomorrow.
