Goals, quantified

So basically we need to re-evaluate our goals for the Creativity Workshop. One of the wonderful things about our craft is it’s very quantifiable. Word counts, chapters, they can all be broken down into measurable, attainable goals.
My first goal was:

Speed~~
What’s nice is that this is already quantified for me. One complete short story, from conceptualization to actualization, in seven days. Times twelve. Next,

Quantity~~
I wanted to add more short stories to my repertoire. Again, this is pre-quantified. 12 short stories over 12 weeks.

Writing at home~~
Writing at home is a goal that can be quantified by time. Thanks to some excellent advice over on Merrilee’s blog, I’ve decided to set an alarm on my cell phone (so I can hear it no matter where I am) to remind myself to write once a day, not long after work, and I’ve decided to commit myself to the chair and keyboard for at least 30 minutes. The commute to and from work will be included in this as well, for thinking about story ideas, where I have a pen and notebook waiting for me in the passenger seat.
