I’m torn between frustration that work and low-level illness have made high word counts out of reach; and elation that at least I’ve not been a knock-out this time around!

I think I’ll go with elation and just celebrate that I’m still here. :-)

One interesting observation: for NaNoWriMo in 2009, I got myself over the line by having a scene breakdown ready to go before starting. This (different) novel is still a mystery to me as I haven’t nailed the planning down in that much detail. The hidden writing path is a slower and more difficult process for me; but I think what I actually write is of higher quality. I don’t think I can draw any conclusion from that just yet, but I shall ponder it.

Honestly if I hadn’t commited to finishing this draft by this weekend, my numbers would be lower. I’ve been pushing and refusing to accept any less than 1k a day (the goal I set for myself was to get over 1k for all of the first 15 days so I could have reprieve the rest of the month if I needed it :P). I might fail in that tonight though since I’m fried, but I’m going to try.

This is ALWAYS hard though. It’s a big commitment, but I like it because it keeps me going.

I’m jealous too! Also, this round is way harder than I thought it would be, mostly because of the plague that has struck the family, and currently me. Cough cough.
