Well well well, 2/3rds of the way tgeckohrough the month, are we? I applaud you!

For those that aren’t innit, think of all the words you could be writing by switching to NPI. And that’s not such a bad thing, is it? Like … free fish n’ chips or something. Only they’re not free, but they’re easy. As easy as standing up, some blokes might say. Or sitting down and typing, as it were. Others might even say ‘laid back’.

The break-down:

  1. A “Knock-out” is 0-249 words. (After the three Days of Reprieve are exhausted!)
  2. An “Update” is 250-999 words.
  3. A “Session” is 1,000-1,667 words.
  4. A “Tougher-than-NaNo” is anything greater than 1,667.
  5. A “THE END!” is when you’ve completed your WIP and type ‘THE END’.

 THE CONSENSUS:

So many words gained, so many participants lost. 250 words doesn’t seem like much at first glance, but while the holidays swirl around us, 250 words a day, every day can be a more than formidable challenge.

I hope you don’t mind this tally was focused more on wordcounts and less on the commentary. Thank you to everyone that’s participated, I really do appreciate it; December’s been a crazy month, so maybe this NPI wasn’t so laid-back, after all.

If you don’t return until after New Year’s, have happy holidays! I hope you’re able to return for the next NPI in March.

And if you’re still in it, I’ll see you on the 31st with a bottle of champagne!

;D

  1. Sad that there have been so many knock-outs, but I get it. I’m still just working on the consistency award LOL. One of these days I’ll have the time and motivation to top 1000 again.

  2. MAX IS HOME!!!!

@Julie: Yep, it’s all about writing every day, but that’s so tough in December. Even 3 Days of Reprieve wasn’t enough for most of us….

  3. Woot! 500 words this week! I really really haven’t been able to write every day, but each time I think of this blog, and feeling accountable, I start scribbling and am surprised at how much I come up with…

  4. Me again! I haven’t written anything new, unfortunately, BUT! I’ve used these days off from work to type up all my handwritten scenes – about 5000 words so far and about 2500 more to go. Then the cycle starts again… I just can’t seem to compose on the pc, but at least I get to do one round of edits as I type scenes :-)
