First of all, welcome! Forgive the mess, and thank you very much for visiting. ^__^
The look is different, but it’s still me: Nick, AKA cirellio.
The look of this site will undoubtedly change as I design a layout for my index.html (I’ve been developing one using Dreamweaver CS4. And for the record, I really like the CS4 suite; Much, much better than CS3 IMO.)
I’ve been dilligently brushing up on XML and CSS, and I’ve learned PHP. I’ve also been learning how to draw with vectors, so hopefully I’ll be able to work some of that into my design.
But for now, this downloaded theme’ll have to do. Feedback is, of course, always welcome.
Good news:
I’m over 1/3rd of the way done with my first draft, well-past the point where the main character gets immersed in the world of Lura.
I’m … not sure where the word count sits at the moment, but I’m more focused on finishing scenes so I can get started on the revision.
Now, some bad news. (WARNING: About to blog about my personal life!)
My job is in jeopardy. People in the same building as I work in are getting laid off. Kind of scary, but I know that no matter what happens, things’ll be okay. My life has always found a way of working out against all odds.
So—really—I’m not worried.
Though my spirit and confidence is high, I like to play it safe. I revamped my résumé and got it back into circulation. Hopefully it’ll give me the head start I need to rebound if anything untoward should happen. (rant: Sigh… Why is the US media liberally throwing around the phrase ‘economic depression’? /rant)
So, back to good news again.
I’ll be heading back to school for three classes this spring. Those three classes should net me a degree. Not only will it likely lead to a great job, but I figure I’ll get some nice writing time in between work and school.
(I find I tend to write well in a college environment.)
When I think about it, trying to get a job is a good analogy to trying to get published. I write a résumé , query a lot, and wait for positive responses. If I don’t get them, I tweak my résumé and try again. I am only defeated when I take rejections personally and stop trying.
Thanks for visiting, you guys have always been invaluable to me. :)

Fingers crossed about the job though, but have fun at school. ;)

Good luck with school, by the way. I’m thinking about taking a few more classes as well. Also good luck with your job, that’s rough! Hope all goes well.

Right now, they’re kinda meh. I’d like to use pure CSS buttons.
I’m kind of missing the black motif, too. I think it might look really cool with gold letters.

I finally did get laid off, you know? So I guess I’ll have more time to work on this site. Just the other day, I added 2000 words to Five Rings!
But, even if losing my job wasn’t my fault, I still feel like a total bum. :P

Congrats on your new blog. Although I’m writing a book with a short deadline, I hope to keep stopping by in the meantime.

Sorry it’s been so long…
The site looks wonderful so far, I like it. There are a few issues I can see, but it’s like EditQuest with its issues as well (most importantly the disappeared torch/RSS button…SIGH): people will understand that it’s a work in progress. Like you, I will fix that stuff in time…
I hope everything is well as you gear up for the holidays. C was laid off a couple of weeks ago. I sincerely hope you get to keep your job! At the same time, I know that when one door closes, another opens, so try to see everything as opportunity. You are talented and bright and hopeful and have been through enough that I feel confident you and G will be all right no matter what happens.
If I don’t get back here before Christmas, I wish you very joyful days over the holiday.
Other Steph
