End of the prologue, chapter one begins!

Larimosa and her daughter were interesting characters to write. I actually modelled their relationship after how I imagine Marie Antoinette’s relationship would’ve been like with her daughter.

Also, the temple was named after Le Marais in Paris, France.

Scene three’s weigh-in:

798 words.
So the grand total comes to 1881.

And with that, the prologue comes to a close.

And I’m not going back to it until the revision. I’m. Not. Touching. A. Word.

I’ve really grown to like writing from Dahjal’s perspective. But it’s going to be a long time before I have the opportunity to write from his perspective again.

And I like writing from Cirellio’s better, anyway.

Scene four begins chapter one. It’s a simple introductory approach. Cirellio is riding his horse through the desert on his way to Shiira. It’s going to interweave with a few past events, all serving to build-up intrigue, leaving the reader wondering exactly what business Cirellio has in Shiira (and how much trouble it’s going to get him in).

The setup here is like a glass bubble. I really have to handle this with care to sustain the suspension of disbelief. I need to try my best to keep it suspenseful, unpredictable, believable, and interesting all at the same time. I envision this part of the story as being … something of a crescendo, all the way to the ‘beginning of the middle’. If I can pull that off, then scene four would be the pianissimo part; Subtle, yet intriguing.

So begins the delicate balancing act. Wish me luck! ^_~

  1. Interesting way to approach characters: imagining how a historical figure would act or react… I must go think on this. Thanks for the inspiration!

  3. LUCK!

I’ve never known anyone to break down their writing the way you do. It reminds me of music. Like you’re writing a symphony. Or a play, I suppose. It’s mind-boggling, but I think it’s what makes you so utterly familiar with your story.

  4. I second that. ^
:O It’s mind blowing how well you know your story — you almost bring it to life.
