A moment that could change everything

What had me so nervous yesterday? Maybe it’s that I’m finally at the edge of the diving board and just need to jump.

It’s always disheartening to see someone climb all the way up the ladder, nearing the edge one nervous baby-step at a time; Then, as they gaze out over the crystalline waters and at all the staring faces, realize how high they’ve climbed … just to cower and climb all the way back down. And all they had to do was jump—just once—to find out it’s not as scary as it looks.

Did you jump?

Maybe it’s because you had friends to cheer you on, chanting, “Jump, jump, jump!”

Well, I clearly have friends like that today.

If I jumped before, I can do it again. No regrets.

It got me looking at that short story I submitted to the writing contest. I’m happy to report it still gives me chills and there’s not a single word I’d change. It reminded me: Yes, I can write.

And best of all, this revelation came to me on the first day of my favorite month of the year! :)

Thank you.
